BÄRARN
------------------------------------------
VIDEO, 7 MIN. 2009.

In Swedish folklore Bärarn comes in different
shapes. It often appears in the form of a ball of
yarn, believed to come to life in exchange for the
owner's soul in an agreement with the devil.
This ball was said to carry (bära) home - steal,
milk, butter and other necessities. On the island
Holmön there existed a Bära-woman as late
as in the 1930s.

Bärarn was made in collaboration with dancer
Kajsa Sandström, for the exhibition Konsten
seglar in at the boat museum on Holmön.
